
The South Australian Training Awards are the peak State awards for vocational education and training (VET), hosted by the South Australian Training and Skills Commission, recognise innovation and excellence in the training sector.
In July 2010 HGT were nominated as a finalist in the SA Training Awards in the category of Small Training Provider of the Year.
On the big night there were many winners but congratulations for our category go to the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Education Centre. A complete list of all winners can be seen on the SA Training Awards website.
Royal Adelaide Show - September 2010HGT apprentice cook Melissa James will be assisting celebrity chef Rosa Matto with red meat cooking demonstrations at the "Meating Place" at this year's Royal Adelaide Show from 3rd - 11th September.
An inititative between Western Futures Southern Aboriginal Employment and Training Task Force, Aboriginal Employment Initiatives, Department of Further Education, Employment, Science and Technology (DFEEST) and HGT to provide an opportunity for young indigenous people with a career pathway into the hospitality industry. The three week program will commence on 27th September and culminate with a graduation lunch on 15th October where a 3 course meal will be prepared by cookery students and served by the front of house cookery students to dignitaries and invited guests.
As determined by the HGT/LHMU Collective Agreement and HGT/LHMU School Based Collective Agreement, all HGT cookery apprentices and school based cookery apprentices received an annual pay rate increase effective from 5th July, 2010.
In accord with Fair Work Australia's decision to increase the Federal Minimum Wage, all HGT trainees received an annual pay rate increase effective from 5th July, 2010.
