HGT Employees - Uniforms and Equipment
AS a chef you will need to purchase a range of equipment including uniforms and knife sets. These are essential tools of the trade for all commercial chefs.
HGT apprentices have the option to purchase a uniform and basic knife kit through HGT. The contents of the kit are outlined below and are available from our Frome Street office.

These kits are available for an upfront cost of $123.00 or you can choose to have fortnightly deductions from your wages to the total cost of the kit. You can also purchase these separately - the uniform pack is $80.00 and knife kit is $43.00.
Apprentices are encouraged to purchase a minimum of 3 uniforms with 5 being the recommended number. More advanced knife kits are also available for purchase through HGT - please talk to your consultant who can assist and advise with your uniform and knife kit requirements.
Tools For Your Trade
The Tools For Your Trade payment provides up to $3,800 to eligible Australian Apprentices and can be used to purchase uniforms and equipment. Find out more on our Incentives & Allowances page.
