HGT ACHIEVEMENT AWARD
HGT has introduced the HGT Achievement Award, a new and exciting program to encourage excellence in the industry and reward our outstanding performers.
The Award will be presented every 3 months, and the winning Apprentice and Trainee for that period will be presented with a $100 TRIMS Gift Voucher. TRIMS have partnered HGT in this award and the voucher will enable winners to purchase goods of their choice to the value of $100 from TRIMS.
July - September 2007 Winners:
ALEX SCHUBERT - APPRENTICE
Alex started with HGT in December 2006 at the Wallis Tavern, Mount Barker. Peter Catlin who is the Hotel Manager at the Wallis Tavern/Auchendarroch House and Ben Arbon, Head Chef have been very impressed with Alex's commitment to his work and provided an oustanding assessment that has identified strengths in the areas of quality of work and work efficiency.
Alex has been working in the entree section and is involved in the day to day preparation of salads and vegetables. Alex is a good team member and now assists in most areas of the kitchen. More importantly he helps others.
He is always coming up with ideas and menu suggestions, some of which have now been placed as a fixture on the menu.
Also of note is Alex's results in this years Top Hat Awards where Alex won first prize for Best Dessert in the First Year Apprentice Category. The dessert was Profiteroles filled with a Chantilly Cream and Chocolate Sauce.
A great start to your Apprenticeship and Well Done!!!
MELISSA HYLAND - TRAINEE
Melissa applied to HGT following a request from the Marion Hotel back in November 2006. Simon Grima, Hotel Manager was very impressed by Melissa's enthusiasm, personality and presentation that he contacted HGT and confirmed the Hotels commitment to commencing Melissa in the Food and Beverage Traineeship. Since then Melissa has demonstrated a natural flair for Hospitality and a commitment that will ensure a successful future for her in the hospitality industry. Melissa demostrates initiative and a sound work ethic and more importantly she wins over customers with her smile, personality and service. She has picked up things very quickly and has worked in the dining area, lounge bar, gaming room and front bar. When we met with Simon Grima recently he described Melissa simply as "Fantastic". This is a great accolade to receive for someone new to the industry. We wish Melissa the very best in her chosen career and congratulate her on a wonderful achievement.
