SIT20207 Certificate II Hospitality

Course Information

This qualification provides the skills and knowledge to undertake a range of functions and activities requiring basic operational knowledge. These include

  • undertaking mise en place prior to service
  • serving food and beverage to tables
  • preparing and serving drinks at a bar
  • selling beverages in a retail outlet
  • preparing and serving coffee
  • attending gaming machines*.

You will be able to work in various hospitality settings such as restaurants, hotels, motels, catering operations, pubs, clubs, cafes, and coffee shops.

This qualification is suitable for an Australian apprenticeship pathway and for VET in schools delivery.

Career Opportunities

On completion of this course you will be able to work in a range of occupations including

  • bar attendant
  • bottle shop attendant
  • food and beverage attendant
  • gaming attendant*.

You can further your studies with a Certificate III Hospitality or Certificate III Hospitality (Commercial Cookery) to become a qualified cook.

Prerequisites

There are no prerequisites for entry to this qualification.

Units of Competency

To achieve a Certificate II in Hospitality, 12 units must be completed including 6 core units and 6 elective units as follows:

SITHFAB012A Prepare and serve espresso coffee
SITXFIN001A Process financial transactions
SITHFAB009A Provide responsible service of alcohol/liquor licensing laws

* Gaming electives may be chosen specific to individual needs.
