WHAT IS A HOSPITALITY TRAINEESHIP?
A Hospitality Traineeship consists of a 24 month contract on a full time basis (i.e. you will work a minimum of 38 hrs per week) with HGT as your legal employer. HGT leases you to a host employer who supervises your training for the duration of your contract of training. You must realise this is not a 9 to 5 job and that long hours are a regular expectation, as well as weekend work. Throughout the traineeship you will acquire a diverse range of skills including Bar and Service of Drinks, Restaurant Service, TAB, Keno and Gaming operations.
A traineeship can be the beginning of a very rewarding career path in the hospitality industry.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BECOME A HOSPITALITY TRAINEE?
Experience/Education: The applicant must be a minimum of 18 years of age or over to commence a Hospitality Traineeship.
A minimum level of year 11 (SACE Stage 1) schooling has been successfully completed.
It would be beneficial if you have acquired some basic work experience within the hospitality industry as part of a work placement program or casual weekend work.
PERSONAL REQUIREMENTS
Are you willing to commit to a 24 month contract and abide by the guidelines within the contract?
Do you have commitment and a desire to succeed?
Flexibility to work weekends, split shifts, public holidays and nights is essential.
Your own form of transport is desirable.
OFF THE JOB TRAINING
During your traineeship, you will be required to attend and successfully complete off the job training at a nominated training provider. Off the job training is compulsory and normally you will be away from your workplace for a total of 3 weeks throughout the 24 months. You will receive award wages for these periods of off the job training.
